What makes a sustainable cropping practice a success story? Have your say!"
1st Crop-MATCHING European Thematic Network Exchange, 29 October 2026, Lisbon & Online
How can promising sustainable cropping practices become inspiring success stories for small-scale farmers across Europe? Join the Crop-MATCHING European Thematic Network Exchange Event and help us shape the answer!
On 29 October 2026, Crop-MATCHING will hold its 1st European Thematic Network Exchange Event in Lisbon, Portugal, bringing together farmers, advisors, researchers, policymakers and other actors interested in sustainable and resilient small-scale farming across Europe.
The event will provide an opportunity to learn about the work carried out by Crop-MATCHING to identify promising sustainable cropping practices across its ten target countries – but, most importantly, to have your say in the next step of the process.
Crop-MATCHING started by identifying 100 Best Practices with potential to support the sustainability and resilience of small-scale farming. The project is now working on the selection of 30 Lighthouse Practices – three per target country – representing particularly promising examples that could inspire farmers and other agricultural actors in different contexts.
The next challenge is to go one step further and select 10 Crop-MATCHING Success Stories, one for each target country.
What makes a practice a real success story?
This is where we would like to hear from you.
During an interactive session, participants will be invited to discuss and evaluate the criteria that should guide the selection of the Crop-MATCHING Success Stories. What makes a practice particularly relevant for farmers? What makes it inspiring, transferable or ready to use? Are there important aspects that should be taken into account when selecting the final ten?
Your input will directly contribute to the development of the methodology that Crop-MATCHING will use for this selection.
Before the interactive session, participants will receive a brief introduction to Crop-MATCHING and learn how the project is moving from the initial portfolio of 100 Best Practices towards the 30 Lighthouse Practices, including an overview of the methodology used and representative examples from different countries and farming systems.
