Crop-MATCHING at the EESC conference on climate, sustainability and food security

Crop-MATCHING was presented at the high-level conference Island of Resilience – Cyprus’ Perspective on Climate, Sustainability and Food Security, organised by the Civil Society Organisations’ Group of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in the framework of the Cyprus Presidency. The event brought together policymakers, representatives of European institutions, civil society organisations, researchers and other key stakeholders to discuss the main challenges related to climate change, sustainability and food security, with a particular focus on the strategic role of islands as hubs for innovation and resilience.

Crop-MATCHING Coordinator, Professor Mattas from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), was invited to present how the project contributes to enhancing the resilience and sustainability of the European agri-food sector. His presentation highlighted the project’s innovative approach and its potential to support European regions in addressing climate and food security challenges.

Held on 22 April 2026, the conference gathered more than 150 participants from across Europe, providing a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and dialogue between policymakers, experts and civil society representatives. Crop-MATCHING’s participation helped raise awareness of the project’s objectives and strengthen engagement with key stakeholders committed to advancing more sustainable and resilient agri-food systems.
