Crop-MATCHING showcased at AGROTICA 2026
Crop-MATCHING was featured at the 31st International Agricultural Fair AGROTICA 2026, one of Europe’s leading exhibitions for agricultural machinery, equipment and supplies and the largest agricultural fair in Greece.
During the event, Crop-MATCHING coordinator Professor Mattas from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) delivered a lecture focused on the future of the Greek agri-food sector, addressing the major transformations, challenges and opportunities currently shaping agriculture in the country. His presentation placed particular emphasis on sustainability, innovation and the need for resilient farming systems capable of responding to climate, economic and market pressures.
Within this context, Professor Mattas highlighted the contribution of the Crop-MATCHING project in supporting sustainable agricultural innovation across Europe. The presentation explained how the project promotes improved crop selection, more efficient use of resources and the adoption of practical solutions designed to strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of small-scale farmers and foresters.
The session gathered more than 200 participants attending in person, including farmers, business representatives, policymakers and regional governors, creating a valuable opportunity for discussion and interaction among key actors of the agri-food ecosystem.
Participation in AGROTICA 2026 represented an important step in Crop-MATCHING’s stakeholder engagement activities, helping to connect research and innovation with the real needs of the agricultural sector. The event also contributed to increasing awareness of the project’s objectives and its role in supporting future agricultural practices and policies in Greece and beyond.
