The Crop-MATCHING project was presented at the National Agriculture Fair 2026 (Feira Nacional de Agricultura – FNA 2026) through the participation of project partner Food4Sustainability CoLAB (F4S). Organised by CNEMA and held from 6 to 14 June, the fair is one of Portugal’s leading agricultural events and a key showcase for innovation in the sector. Bringing together agricultural machinery, equipment, technologies, inputs and services, it also serves as an important meeting point where producers, consumers and other stakeholders come together to exchange knowledge, discover new solutions and explore high-quality agricultural products.  

Through its stand, F4S introduced Crop-MATCHING’s objectives and presented the activities currently being carried out in Portugal. The event provided an excellent opportunity to engage with farmers, advisors, researchers and other organisations interested in promoting crop-matching practices that can enhance the sustainability and resilience of small-scale farming systems.  

Expanding stakeholder engagement in Portugal 

As the Portuguese partner in the consortium, F4S coordinates the country’s National Practice Group, a multi-actor community that brings together representatives from across the agricultural sector to exchange knowledge, identify crop-matching practices and contribute to the project’s development. FNA 2026 provided an ideal setting to expand this network by engaging new stakeholders and inviting them to participate in upcoming Crop-MATCHING activities, including questionnaires, workshops, practice groups and other co-creation initiatives.  

The knowledge gathered through these activities will contribute to identifying existing crop-matching practices and generating valuable insights for the project’s future outputs. By working closely with the agricultural community, Crop-MATCHING aims to support the development of solutions that respond to the real needs of small-scale farms while strengthening knowledge exchange across the participating countries.
