The Crop-MATCHING project was presented at the 58th AGRO – International Agriculture Fair, held in Braga, Portugal, through the participation of project partner Food4Sustainability CoLAB (F4S). Organised by Forum Braga, AGRO is considered the most important agricultural fair in Portugal, bringing together farmers, researchers, advisors, companies and other key stakeholders to explore the latest innovations and trends in agriculture.  

As the Portuguese partner in the consortium, F4S used the fair to present Crop-MATCHING's mission to promote more sustainable crop matching practices for small-scale farms, as well as the work currently being carried out in Portugal. Visitors to the stand learned how the project identifies and promotes practices that can improve productivity, biodiversity and climate resilience, while fostering knowledge exchange between farmers, researchers and agricultural advisors.  

Building Portugal's National Practice Group 

Within Crop-MATCHING, one of F4S's main responsibilities is to coordinate the creation of the National Practice Group in Portugal, a multi-actor community that brings together farmers, advisors, researchers and other organisations to identify crop-matching practices, share experiences and better understand the challenges faced by small-scale farms. This collaborative approach ensures that the project's activities are grounded in the real needs of the sector and in practical field experience.  

The information gathered through this national network will contribute to different project outputs, including the identification of good practices, the development of training materials and future knowledge-sharing activities among the ten participating countries. It will also help identify the main barriers that hinder the adoption of more sustainable crop combinations and support the development of solutions better adapted to real farming conditions.
